I would play Hangman with my siblings and later with my children. It was fun to see the stickman grow on the gallows and get the answer just in time.
Then when Wheel of Fortune came on TV, I would try to guess the answer before the contestants. I even went to Atlantic City for an audition to appear on the show. While I answered the test phrases before anyone else I just wasn't "perky" enough to be selected as a contestant.
Some of the phrases are pretty far-fetched these days. For example, I saw this one recently where the celebrity contestants were reluctant to buy a vowel. Here's the starting board:

Clint Eastwood chose S, Y, V, and Q which filled in 10 more spaces. The board now looks like this:
