Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the Wadi Digla protectorate. It can be reached on foot or Mt. bike by making a variety of elevation changes. It is not accessible directly from the south.

In Arabic, the word “habb” means seed. There is hope that this seed initiates the development of a geocaching community in this wonderfully adventurous group of people here in Egypt. Wadi Digla is a favorite spot for hikers, bikers, and groups to escape the crush of Cairo.

*****
This cache was reestablished Jan. 16, 2004 with a Travel/Exploration theme as the original Puzzle cache was lost sometime before Oct. 2003.
*****

The current cache still contains most of the properties of geocaches that I most enjoy searching:

1. Placed so that the journey takes you to a unique location you would not have ventured to otherwise.
2. Requires a bit of effort to get to it.
3. Provides something that most other sites cannot and the owner of the cache wanted to share the unique location with you. : )
4. Contains a travel bug.
5. Accessible by kids and others of us that stumble around a bit.
6. Good sized cache box to hold lots of stuff.
7. Contains a cache camera. (there is no camera in this current cache.)
8. Contains items worth exchanging for.
9. Contains items centered about a theme.
10. Contains a nice log book.
11. Contains a First Finder Certificate.

The theme of the original cache was PUZZLES. Its contents included various types of puzzles, puzzling games, and puzzling books for both children and adults.

There was a cache camera included and it was to remain in the cache until all pictures had been exposed. The request was that cachers were to utilize the camera to help document the expressions of those who are new to geocaching.

Two unusual sightings of wild life in this area...

On Saturday 14, December 2002 discovered Eagle Owl at daylight in a roost in the upper reaches of the eastern side of this quarry (N 29 57.896, E 031 24.616) (visit link)

Then Saturday 21, December 2002 I walked upon a rare, male Nubian Ibex at sunset. (N 29 57.471, E 031 23.099) It was browsing in the vegetation of this side wadi. (visit link) (Note: two seperate Ibex were sited in the same region during early Jan. 2004.)

To reach Wadi Digla, take Road 216 East from Maadi Digla and follow the blue signs to the Wadi Digla Protectorate.
