You have now arrived at the DNV Campus. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) is an independent foundation established in 1864 with a purpose to safeguarding life, propert and the environment. It has a long and proud history that started off with certifying (classing) ships which was used by insurance companies to define the insurance premium. Today DNV has expanded it's business into a great variety of business areas including shipping, energy, health care, power grid, renewable, cyber security and much more. It's a global organisation with offices across the whole world.
The DNV park is a park that is open to the public. When the office was allowed to be built, a prerequisite was that the park shall be maintained and be available for the general population. So since 1976 when H.M. King Olav opened the office, the park has been a ideal area for recreation and it's hosting part of the coastal trail.
The property was previously used by Høvik Verk that produced various glass items. Enjoy the park and the surroundings. If you pay attention you will see several old buildings that used to be part of Høvik Verk which are today incorporated into the newer buidlings.
So why the Norwegian Truth. Veritas means truth in Latin and what can be more accurate than the Norwegian truth. Although this may not have been the original background for DNV, it still works today. All of DNV's services rely heavily on trust and truth creates trust!
