A Cyclonic Cache Tale from Kerikeri
âTwas the night before Easter, when good weather draws near,
In the âWinterless North,â it should be bright and clear.
But the clouds rolled in heavy, with wind full of slamâ
We got a surprise guest: Tropical Tam.
With thunder a-cracking and sideways-blown rain,
She laughed at our plans, then rewrote them again.
No gardens, no beaches, no sunshiney climesâ
Just puddles and power cuts and tangled-up times.
But we wouldn't retreat, we refused to feel glumâ
Instead, we got crafty (and just slightly dumb).
With gumboots and gadgets and caches to place,
We set out mid-tempest with grins on each face.
Through storm-beaten trails and damp forest track,
We hid little treasures, and never looked back.
Each one tucked safely with waterproof pride,
For seekers to find when the cyclone subsides.
If youâve come this far, youâre clearly obsessed,
With cyclone-spun caches and rain-soaked quests.
Tam Iwa might chuckle as you squelch near her lair,
But youâll earn every smile thatâs been hidden there.
