GEO CAFE - BLUE SWITCH DAY!

Hey hey! It's Blue Switch Day! Oh, wait, you dont know about "Blue Switch Day"? Let me explain. On May 2, 2000 the U.S. Government decided to discontinue restricting GPS accuracy, know as "Selective Availability", making GPS technology more accurate for everyone. On May 3, 2000 the very first geocache was hidden. So, in a way, geocaching is tied to the end of Selective Availability and thus every year on May 2nd the geocaching community celebrates the end of one thing and the beginning of another.

This year, Geocaching HQ is celebrating "Blue Switch Day" with a "Blue Switch Day" souvenir. To qualify for the souvenir, you must log on geocache, attend an event or complete an adventure lab location between May 2nd and May 4th 2025. If you attend this event you will receive a Blue Switch Day souvenir!

WHEN: Friday May 2nd 1:30 PM - 2:15 PM

Come celebrate Blue Switch Day by discussing geocaching, perhaps chatting about challenges you are working on this year, geocaching trips you have scheduled etc. If you are new to geocaching, consider stopping by and saying "hello". This is a perfect event to meet some locals and get some questions you might have about geocaching answered by some local cachers!
