[3rd CITO Event in Guangzhou]
Time: May 2nd, 2025 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM / 5月2日 13:00 - 16:30
Place: Huolu Mountain Forest Park / 火炉山森林公园
Huolu Mountain is a rather under-developed mountain located not far from the downtown, known for its beginner level of hiking with gentle slope and unique landscape. Huolu Mountain has a strong natural atmosphere since it is not yet commercialized, making it an ideal place for breathing fresh air and observe the impressive workmanship of nature. Overall, it is a perfect place for hiking, birdwatching, and photography.
I spent nearly half of my weekends in elementary school climbing this mountain together with my friends. Back in those days, we always observed bizarrely shaped rocks along the way exploring various hiking routes. Many years later, I am inviting geocachers to witness the transformation of this once under-developed mountain park together. We are also incorporating environmental and ocean protection knowledge into the mysteries.
After all, we hope that hiking along the stream and beneath lush trees in the fresh air will give you a glimpse of the upcoming exciting summer.
Planned Routes & Schedule:
13:00 - Gather at the South Entrance
13:20 - Let's go! Hike along the lively stream and pick up trash
14:40 - Arrive at the peak Baijiading, take a group photo! (Doufuhua and Sweet Grass Jelly are recommended)
15:00 - Solve some mysteries (Although you can do this all the way along the trail)
15:30 - Continue along the proposed trail, looking for some mystery caches
16:30 - Gather up, and that's the day!
It is strongly encouraged to bring your own gears for trash picking, since the number of tools offered might be particularly limited.
*Cache In Trash Out (CITO) event is the environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. The main goal of this program is to clean up and preserve the natural areas we enjoy while geocaching. CITO events are large gatherings of geocachers that focus on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, planting trees, vegetation, and trail building. Visit this link for more information.
