This is one of a series of caches placed on the A9 Arthur Highway, in the south east of Tasmania. The highway is 69 km long and goes from Sorell to Port Arthur, which is home to one of Tasmania's most iconic historic sites. The Arthur Highway can be very a busy and interesting (read: challenging) road, so please take care when driving and looking for caches. For this reason, all the caches in this series are placed in areas where there are safe pull off zones. Each cache is best accessed when going in the direction stated in the cache name. Please do not cross the road to look for any caches.
This cache can be accessed reasonably safely while travelling TO or FROM PORT ARTHUR.

Travellers passing through this area will hopefully be enjoying the beautiful rural vistas. But what is hidden behind those lovely rural hills? A large landfill site is housed here and is the largest integrated waste management facility in the state, managing municipal waste from 50 per cent of Tasmania's population. All waste is trucked here and the facility is not open to the public.
There is ample parking space at this cache, but be very aware that large rubbish trucks come and go frequently. Make sure you park well out of their way. BYO pen.
