I was geocaching in the area yesterday....so took the opportunity to do a big walk around the Gardens .Thanks to Glyns cache I was able to read the Information Boards about the background to these amazing gardens.
It sure is a great place to connect with nature while meandering the paths through the rockeries and gardens.
Fernglen is a unique reserve , which is devoted to the growing and preservation of New Zealand native ferns and plants including Alpine Specimens .
Plus it aims to educate people , and many plants are labelled .
It was once privately owned by the Fisher family ...whom you can read about on the boards ...or google more .
As for the tiny cache tube ....Tucked into a tree at chest height . Tree is a few steps behind the Kaka sign...
Handy seat to sit and sign , please rehide well ...Bring a pen !
Opening hours are 9 to 4 . Dogs must be on lead,,,, And please use the shoe cleaning stations .
Parking is in Kauri road.... There are 2 Entrances or Exits .
Enjoy !
