This Cache is placed as part of the 20255 New York State Park Central Region Geocache Challenge. There are approximately 80 geocaches hidden within 22 state parks and historic sites in this parks region, the first 150 people to find 45 or more caches will receive a special geocache challenge coin. Be sure to check each park or site's unique web page for possible trail maps and other facility specific information. parks.ny.gov Although the website lists the current hours as 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The correct hours are dawn to dusk.
Bring a GPS with you, or download the caches before you leave home as many of our beautiful State Parks/ Historic sites have limited or no cell service!!!

Bowman Lake State Park is a paradise for hiking, camping, fishing and geocaching. We hope you enjoy the beauty of this park located in the Central Region. Bowman Lake was established in the 1960’s containing campsites, a beach, picnic tables, a boat launch and trails on 653 acres making it one of the largest campgrounds in Central New York. Some of the trails can be muddy after a rain and be sure to use plenty of bug spray to protect you from ticks, black flies and other insects. Cell phone service can be spotty so be sure to load data off line or use a GPS. This traditional cache could be in a high muggle area at times so please be cautious and respect other people enjoying the park. The stamp is not swag so please do not take. Replace cache as found or better if camouflage is missing. The area could be muddy after rain and have plant life that could poke or scratch so appropriate footwear and long pants are recommended. Take the turn off the main trail to the yellow/blue trail. Cache is off the trail before the tree marked with yellow/blue/orange blazes, look for a large fallen tree.
