Join us for a night of nostalgia, conversation, and community at Free Play, Worcester’s retro arcade bar. With a lineup of classic arcade machines, pinball tables, and neon-lit ambiance, this event offers a laid-back chance to connect with fellow geocachers in a setting that’s equal parts fun and unforgettable.
We’ll also take a moment to celebrate a piece of gaming history. In 1981, a little-known game called Apple Panic helped pioneer the platformer genre. Players dug holes and dropped apple-shaped enemies through trap doors—a quirky, clever concept that laid the groundwork for better-known games like Donkey Kong. While Apple Panic never became a household name, it remains a hidden gem among early arcade enthusiasts.
Whether you’re a high-score chaser, a retro gaming fan, or just looking to swap geocaching stories with new friends, this event is the perfect excuse to take a break, grab a drink, and enjoy a night out. The atmosphere is relaxed, the games are ready, and the conversation is always good.

This venue (Free Play) only allows ages 21+ to enter. Cover charge is $8, and all games inside are free to play -- no quarters needed. If you can't swing the cover charge, tell them you're attending the geocaching event and Johnny Appleseed will pay your cover charge (well, the first 20 people or so). You are responsible for your own bar tab.
