Geocache Description:

This cache is in an Ammo Box, which is labeled as being a Geocache.
*** Mud Warning - cache area can be muddy - you may wish to dress appropriately. ***

We think the ponds located here started out as gravel pits, with the gravel being used to build Hwy. 140.

In the 1950's, after the pits filled with water, this place was a hotspot for wildlife, lots of shorebirds, raptors, jackrabbit, raccoon, and even burrowing owls lived out here.

You can still find many of these, in small numbers, but since that time this place has been used extensively by ATVers, and it is terribly torn up.

In the spring of 2002, Jackson County finally began measures to try and clean the place up and restrict ATV use, but they have minimal funds and a serious lack of human resources.

***** THERE IS A FIRST FINDER'S CERTIFICATE IN THIS CACHE *****

*** PLEASE *** It may not look like it the day you are there, but this is a high traffic area for fishermen and ATVers, so please Hide this cache better than you found it.
Thank You!!

*****We started out this cache with 3 TRAVEL BUGS !! *****
