I'd been wanting to place a train-themed cache for some time, so when I saw that a new trail had opened on the old Nickel Plate Corridor (get it ... five cents), I had to hide one here.
Parking is located just off of SR 18 at N40'35.089" W86'06.933" in Bennetts Switch. Watch your speed ... the lot is easy to miss. The trail is currently unimproved, so be prepared for hiking on gravel and old roadbed. Head north by the bank through the cattle gates, which is being used to keep ATVs off the trail, to get to the cache site.
I've started the ammo box with N-scale model train cars of rail names that used to travel through this part of the state (Nickel Plate, C&O, Pennsylvania, Monon) as well as other train items. I understand that more than likely you will not be able to trade items of similar costs. The only thing I ask for is that you don't take multiple cars and wipe out the contents in one visit. Thank you.
