Some fun facts and history about this park!
Radebaugh Florist & Greenhouses is a family-owned business. It has been in the same spot at 120 E. Burke Avenue in Towson for 90 years (and counting). Four generations of the Radebaugh family have worked there and the greenhouses have been used since the 1940s.
In recent years, the family was not sure what to do with the old greenhouses. Some people suggested building homes there. But when Baltimore County started looking for land, it seemed to be the better fit! So, they decided to make the extra space into a new park.
The introduction of a new park at this location was a great idea for the communitiy and families who have supported them and their business for decades.
And for the past few years, the county had been planting native shade trees and assortments of flowers throughout the park too!
The trees were being planted as part of the county’s Urban Tree Expansion Program, which is part of the state’s Watershed Implementation Plan, an effort to reach pollution reduction goals for improving water quality in the Chesapeake Bay by 2025.
