I've been geocaching since 2019 and have over 5000 finds at this point but zero hides! I've been thinking about it for a while and when my friends suggested that I hide one of my own on a recent Mother's Day hike, I decided to finally take the plunge. We hiked with 2 moms of young kids and my name is Joe - so naturally, the cache name Joe Mamas was born :) Very fitting for Mother's Day. There aren't too many caches on this trail so it was a perfect fit.
Upon initial placement, I learned that it was too close to the final of a mystery cache, so I had to move it. Two weeks after Mother's Day 2025, I headed back up to this trail and chose an overlook that is an ideal place for a cache, as it's a great place to stop, rest and take in the beautiful scenery. The cache was then renamed to Joe Mama's Overlook :) I love this spot and I hope you do too.
See the waypoints for parking and trailhead information. Getting to GZ requires a hike of moderate difficulty and the cache is about 0.8 miles from the trailhead at a little over 7600' elevation. The cache is hidden just up the slope from the overlook to avoid muggle interference. You're looking for a small plastic container. I hope you enjoy this time in nature! Take a moment to breathe, enjoy the quiet (or the chaos, if you brought your kids) and take in the amazing scenic views that this trail offers.
