Welcome to Fort McDermott Confederate Memorial Park! There is so much history to this park and it would be a crazy long description if this History Nerd starts writing a description about it! So for now, I'll spare you. For those of you who do want to learn a little or lot of history behind this place, there are so many online resources for this place. There are also TONS of history signs here. Some are on the mounds, pits, bridges, and entrances. You will see a sign just about any place you walk around here. Please be mindful this place his very large and steep mounds from it being a war site. It could be a difficult climb for some, considering the pine straw under your feet doesn't help. You can find some easier places to get up on the mounds and walk to the GZ. My coordinates were really jumpy for this one so I tried to get the best coordinates I could, but if it's a few feet off, I apologize. I'm putting 3.5 Terrian but depending on which direction you come from, it may be much less of a terrian level. Please replace it exactly as found and cover with the item I have hiding it. Make sure it's wedged back into its hiding place. There are many benches around you can stop and sit on if you need rest or would just like to enjoy the scenery. One of the bridges coming from one of the directions is rotted and has a few holes at the time of placing so watch your step. Please enjoy this beautiful historic site and respect the property.
