Skrytka jest częścią serii "Śladami Toruńskich Geografów" przedstawiającej lokalizacje związane z ponad 80-letnią historią Wydziału Nauk o Ziemi i Gospodarki Przestrzennej UMK w Toruniu. Jest to reaktywacja serii po ponad 10 latach, która została założona przez ówczesnych członków Studenckiego Koła Naukowego Geografów UMK wraz z opiekunami naukowymi Koła.
Neogotycka kamienica przy ul. Henryka Sienkiewicza 4 została wzniesiona w 1901 roku jako budynek mieszkalny dla rajcy miejskiego Emila Dietricha. W 1990 roku przeszła na własność Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika, a już w latach 1993–1994 swoją siedzibę znalazł tu Instytut Geografii – Zakład Geologii i Hydrogeologii. Po przeniesieniu instytutu do nowej siedziby na kampusie UMK w 2007 roku, kamienicę przejął Zakład Edukacji Artystycznej Instytutu Artystycznego Wydziału Sztuk Pięknych. Obiekt wpisany jest do gminnej ewidencji zabytków pod numerem 1090.

The cache is part of the series "In the Footsteps of Toruń Geographers," which presents locations connected to the more than 80-year history of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. This is a revival of the series after more than 10 years, originally created by members of the Student Scientific Association of Geographers at NCU together with the academic supervisors of the Association.
The neo-gothic building at 4 Henryk Sienkiewicz Street was built in 1901 as a residential building for city councilor Emil Dietrich. In 1990, it became the property of Nicolaus Copernicus University, and by 1993–1994, it housed the Institute of Geography – Department of Geology and Hydrogeology. After the institute moved to a new location on the NCU campus in 2007, the building was taken over by the Department of Artistic Education of the Faculty of Arts. The property is listed in the municipal register of historic monuments under number 1090.
