Geocache Description:

Have you ever been to Texas? When I was growing up Texas was where the movies and TV shows depicted the West. Sometimes even the Wild West. Texans herded cows, rode horses, and wore cowboy hats and cowboy boots. Those hats and footwear are still popular today, even as far away as Alabama. Some people look good with a hat and can walk all day in boots. The boots were essential for the staying on a horse and in the saddle while herding and tending cows. I always wanted a hat and boots. Guess I wanted to be cowboy. Finding this container in Nashville I got a little nostalgic and decided to express that by making this hide and giving it this name. Not enough caches begin with X and it sounds like the way a cowboy would say it.

Every western ranch needed grazing and a “crick”. This location has them both. You will cross the bridge over Yellow Leaf Creek and very occasionally it will flood the road nearby. Sometimes the fields have the cattle in them. They don’t seem to have the roundup, the branding, and the cattle drive to market anymore. And around here there aren’t cowboys anymore, even at the drugstore.

Close by safe parking is very limited. Not enough room for a hot fire and branding cattle. The shoulder is very narrow. No need to risk stopping on a steep bank and rolling over. Could be like roping that cow that pulls that too loose saddle from the horse and takes you for a ride. No need to pretend you are herding cows by dodging the cars.

CONGRATULATIONS to OBH for FTF and for well adapted lyrics! Apologies to Ned Washington, Frankie Laine, Rowdy, Mr. Favor, and Wishbone? Maybe OBH will sing it at an event sometime.
