These mysterious plaques appeared on the Los Gatos Creek Trail, and as far as I've been able to find out, nobody knows who placed them or what they're for! There are three of them. The one at the posted coordinates and two others within half a mile along the trail to the north.
To solve this puzzle, you can either go to the posted coordinates or use the photo below. The key to solving the puzzle is on the plaque itself.
What is the word inside the triangle?

Update June 20, 2025: As not2b just reminded me, there was an excellent puzzle cache called Who Dunnit - Mystery Plaque by the late spyder woman, an iconic Los Gatos cacher, that introduced me to these plaques many years ago. I remembered the puzzle, but not who had placed it. She didn't know where the mysterious plaques came from, either!
You can validate your puzzle solution with
certitude.
The cache is right along the trail and placed for easy access even on high muggle days.
Here's a local article from 2012 about the plaques. Reading it will also give you a big clue about how to solve this one.
The Los Gatos Creek Trail has no posted hours. Bicycles and dogs are allowed. Happy hunting!
