Houge Park is a beautifully appointed, well maintained twelve and a half acre park in the Cambrian area of San Jose. There’s something for everyone, whether it’s benches to sit and enjoy the area, tables for playing chess and checkers, or opportunities to play tennis or chess. With a large, grassy spaces and a walking & jogging trail, folks who want to just get out and walk will have plenty of room for that. But there was one thing missing - a geocache. Surprisingly there are no geocaches in the area. We are going to change that oversight.
There were two geocaches in this park that are now archived. On March 28, 2005, summerandnana planted a cache called GCN8YA - What? No Cache! We found that cache May 11, 2005. In an amazing cache maintenance, summerandnana would pop by every once in a while, and drop a geo-coin for the next lucky finder. Unfortunately, we weren't one of those lucky ones. The cache was archived November 27, 2006, after it went missing.
It was almost 17 years later when Eeveelution7 planted another cache called GCACD30 - Hidden at Houge on August 10, 2023. We scored a FTF the next morning. This cache was archived July 8, 2024, after being repeatedly muggled.
We are planting three caches at this park. This one, called Shall We Play A Game?, starts at a concrete table. You can take a break here to play a game. We wanted to do a 1983 War Games movie theme but we got no further than the idea generated by this table.
Update: 5/30/2025
This coordinate’s location is stage 1. For stage 2, you must navigate 200 ft at 72 degrees to gather some information for stage 3 (final stage). You will find a series of 4 numbers starting after P that are vertically aligned. Assign the vertical numbers to W,X,Y and Z in downward order.
Back at stage 1, substitute the assigned numbers in place of the letters for the directions. For the final stage, you need to follow an offset course, 34Z degrees from this table 6WZ feet (W8[1+Y].65 meters) to find a small hidden black bison capsule
Congrats to Ullii for the FTF!
