It's the longest day of the year! Last year I hosted an event in El Dorado Hills (GCARCGP) at a park with a spectacular overlook right at sunset. It was a lot of fun, so I decided to bring the tradition back this year in 2025. This park tucked into the back of Rocklin boasts awesome views of BOTH the valley to the west, and the Sierra foothills to the east. Come join me to watch the sun set on the longest day of the year. Can't make it to the morning event in Folsom? This is a great chance to grab your Solstice souvenir!
The posted coordinates will lead you to a grassy field next to the overlook. You'll have to walk about 700ft on a paved path from the parking lot to reach the event site. From the parking area, pass the playground on your left and the reservoir on your right. The field is on the far side of the reservoir. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to spread out as there is no seating. I'll try to get there early to get us a spot as I'm sure it will be busy like last year's event (though hopefully without the sprinklers going on!). I'll probably have trackables to trade and may bring a sweet treat.
When: Fri June 20th, 2025
Time: 7:45pm-8:45pm (sunset is at 8:33pm)
Where: Boulder Ridge Park; 3555 Park Dr; Rocklin, CA 95765
Parking coordinates are provided for the lot. It's fairly small so if it fills up you may need to park on Park Dr and walk in (a short walk). Note that the park closes one hour after sunset, and the lot is gated so make sure to remove your car before then!
