Der Werwolf zu Kaundorf
Einst besuchte ein Mann zu Kaundorf seinen kranken Freund. Da sah er hinter dem Bettvorhang einen Riemen hangen, der ihm gefiel, und er sagte: “Wenn du stirbst, vermachst du mir den Riemen“. Überdem schnallte er ihn versuchshalber um, ward in einen Wolf verwandelt und eilte davon. Aber es gelang, ihn bei einem Kalkofen einzufangen, und sobald man ihm den Riemen weggenommen hatte, stand er wieder als Mensch da. Den Riemen warf man in den Kalkofen, worauf dieser zersprang.

Un jour, un homme rendit visite à son ami malade à Kaundorf. Il aperçut alors derrière le rideau du lit une ceinture qui lui plut, et il disait : « Quand tu mourras, lègue-moi cette ceinture ». Il l'attacha à titre d'essai, se transforma en loup et prit la fuite. Mais il fut rattrapé près d'un four à chaux et, dès qu'on lui eut retiré la ceinture, il reprit forme humaine. La ceinture fut jetée dans le four, qui explosa.

Once upon a time, a man visited his sick friend in Kaundorf. There he saw a strap hanging behind the bed curtain that he liked, and he said, ‘When you die, leave me the strap.’ He strapped it on to try it out, was transformed into a wolf, and ran away. But he was caught near a lime kiln, and as soon as the strap was taken away, he stood there again as a human being. The strap was thrown into the lime kiln, which then burst open.
