Personal Accomplishments

What about filled calendars (trad, puzzle, hidden day, found day)? filled fizzy grids? who found the APE cache? who finished a geotour? other amazing things you've done? Share in your log and I'll add them here. Whatcha got?

  • Axolotl62 hit 600 finds this year and had his best year yet
  • BioSector finished his 3rd fizzy loop, hit 5,000, found his new furthest East and new furthest South caches, published a virtual, as well as helping to host CARW2024 LEAP (CO's note - It was a FANTASTIC weekend!)
  • Eaglesham Fam hit 2000 finds as noted above, but they also found the Oldest in AB, obtained a new state souvenir (Alaska), achieved a 10-icon day, found an FTF, found a new furthest North cache and a new furthest West cache, and had their best year yet.
  • excited2explore finished Newfoundland (the last of the Canadian provinces); got 2 FTFs in Newfoundland, cached in 5 new countries (Norway, England, Scotland, Germany, Russia); attended her first international event and hosted international events in Oslo, Manchester, and Edinburgh (2 more than she's hosted here); Canadian Challenge cache; the NERV of EG*/G series with Gimli*; Wherigo Stormwater series, and Southside Stormwater Ponds Adventure Lab and mystery bonus; hit 7,000 while caching with AuraB and 8,000 while caching with Gimli*; completed her WIGO and mystery calendar year on October 18, while in London, England; AND finally, at the time of this event, we will be 2 days away from completing a calendar year streak. NOW this is a milestone she did not think she would achieve - Congratulations on ABSOLUTELY AMAZING milestones.
  • GeoGuider hit 12,000 finds, has 462 FTFs (18th in Alberta), 700 geocaching events, and attended over 100 geocaching events (not counting CITOs, etc.) in 2024 and filled 100 calendar dates. She finished her micro calendar. She filled 11-per day calendar challenge. GeoGuider hosted her first international event in Bermuda and found the oldest one there (new souvenir). Favorite challenges were: 11/day, 9 difficulties in 9 consecutive days, 9 terrains in 9 consecutive days, 6 icon types in Bermuda. Favorite caches were: Admiral's Tunnel Bermuda, Admiral's Cave Bermuda, Fantasy & Crystal Caves Bermuda, St. George's on the 7th - oldest in Bermuda). New furthest South cache. Won all kinds of prizes in CARW LEAP with Leap Frog series with trads and a mystery. She completed her 6th 360o from home.
  • geo-schmidts hit 8,000 finds, had an FTF, a 10-year geocaching anniversary, found the APE cache, hid CARW LEAP caches and won major prizes (no surprise there!), and hid a mystery and a virtual
  • Gimli*/GeoJoce hit 13,000 finds, hid a trad, hid the EG*/G series with excited2explore, and found an FTF.
  • GovZot hit 2,000 after 16 years of caching.
  • hiking granny hit 26,000-29,000 finds, attended GeoWoodstock XX, got to NL (and totally unexpectedly met up with excited2explore and cached together including a 5/5). Also while in NL met up with teamshande and caught the ferry to Saint Pierre and Miquelon and cached together then had to endure the fury of the Atlantic as they were engulfed with waves coming over the boat just to get back to NL. Get a load of THIS: She was able to fill a personal challenge she's been working on for the last couple of years: a FIZZY for EACH MONTH of the year and a fizzy for each season. Absolutely incredible!
  • iicydiamonds created an Adventure Lab, a Locationless, and an FTF
  • j0ckser hit 9,000 finds, 500 geocaching events, attended over 100 geocaching events (not counting CITOs,etc.) in 2024 and filled over 100 calendar dates on his event calendar. He finished his micro calendar. He filled his 11-per day calendar, 9 difficulties in 9 consecutive days, 9 terrains in 9 consecutive days, 6 icon types in Bermuda challenge. j0ckser attended his first international event, hosted his first international event, both in Bermuda and found the oldest one there (new souvenir). Had a 3-generation of Howard men photo taken - grandpa, son, grandson 1st time ever! New furthest South cache and new furthest East cache. He hid a CARW cache, a virtual, a WIGO, and found several FTFs. He completed his 4th 360o from home.
  • JREnarson hit 5,000 caches (finding over 500 this year - a lighter year than usual).
  • Lady_Viper hit 46,000-53,000 finds and marked her 20-year anniversary since finding her first ever find GCFA96 on July 20, 2004, but will appear on next year's anniversary list as her account was opened August 6, 2005. Her madness story includes surviving her very first accident/rollover in Yuma, AZ--and planting a cache in memory of the Jeep GCAKMB8 the very next day. She attended the S*W*A*G's Yuma Mega #20 the next day which was also a bit of madness on her part. The other MEGA she attended was GeoWoodstock XX in May where she hit #50,000 with 7 of her best geocaching friends. In January, she finally filled in her lower 48 State map and in November completed the Canada to Mexico contiguous county challenge. She has 892 FTFs (7th in AB; 46th in Canada). Her best day was 435 finds on Aug 24th in Nebraska, closely followed by 400 finds on Feb 1st. The year 2024 had her highest number of finds in a year with just over 6400 finds, which puts her at the #2 in Alberta and #24 in Canada. Best Year Yet!!!
  • Licwid hit 23,000 finds, finished his Adventure Lab calendar, has been working on completing a fizzy per month and has completed January, February, March, August, October and December. He's completed his fizzy 17 times. Licwid hid mystery, trad and WIGO caches.
  • Midnight Cougar finished his WIGO calendar in 2024, attended his first MEGA (GCADGT3 Discover L&A County Geocaching Event), got 6 new province souvenirs (Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia), found three provinces in one day, hosted events in PEI, NS, and NB, and found FTFs in PEI. He found the oldest cache in Canada. He also slid off the road for the first time while geocaching. He found a new furthest East cache.
  • OneLostButton has been really busy this year: 4000th find 11 Jun 2024; 2 new country souvenirs Latvia and Netherlands; 1 New Province souvenir Nova Scotia; found the oldest cache in Canada GCBBA; most countries in a day 1 Dec 2024 with Latvia, Netherlands, and Canada; maximum distance in a day 15,181 km on 01 Dec 2024; new elevation unlocked with 2 below sea level at -1m in Latvia and Netherlands; new best month with 221 finds is November 2024; and 10 icons in a day on 9 March 2024.
  • protonspinner and Ifollowher hit 6,000 and had the "most bags of red licorice and cheezies consumed while caching" (CO's note: I resemble that remark!).
  • scavengermonkeys hit 20,000 finds, has new furthest North and new furthest West caches, has 668 FTFs (11th in Alberta), hid Ministik caches and all kinds of others, added to his challenge cache series, Backwards Bison series and has greater than a 14-year streak.
  • signal42 had a banner year by finding his 2000th cache, celebrating his 10th anniversary, an FTF, hid a virtual, and having the most states in a day=6 (Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky and Mississippi).
  • SiriYeh found her first webcam cache, the oldest cache in Alberta, and has a new State souvenir. She also hid a mystery, trad, and a multi.
  • teamshande had an amazing year: hit 16,000-18,000 finds, completed their calendar to a darker green at 26X; 31X fizzy; visited their final province (NL); added eight new States (now 28); two countries (Australia for the Canberra GeoBash Mega, St. Pierre/Miquelon); GeoTour (completing 30 gadget caches); found the only cache with the cactus attribute (Ice Age Vista); visited the Detroit Lake Trolls for the partnership attribute; and completed all kinds of challenges. They hid caches including the Multi-Mania series.
  • The Fearsome Four finished her puzzle calendar this year on her birthday (CO's Note: What a great birthday present to yourself!) She found an FTF and 100 caches in a day with the QuadSquad. She also finished her micro calendar. She found the oldest in Saskatchewan, the oldest in Jamaica and its souvenir, filled her fizzy grid for the 4th time, and found her lowest elevation (-5 m). She hid a mystery, trad, CARW2024 caches (LEAP and Leaping Lizard series), Paris2024 series, and ParaParis2024 series. She finished her 4X fizzy, and had her best year yet.
  • Topo66 found a new province souvenir and found the oldest cache in Canada earning her the furthest east cache. Best Year Yet!~
  • Viajero Perdido collected country souvenirs:  Ireland (#20), UK (#21), France (#22)...found Europe's Oldest in Ireland, got  smiley on LV's Travel Bingo (but still has finds to make to get a full card BINGO), and added one more country to events-attended... that is, Wales and London, both UK (that is, of course, counting only those hosted by locals, for a grand total of 5. He hid caches in Ministik. (CO's Note: Sounds like a spectacular year to me!)

Fond Farewell

...to our dear friend Sharlene Ellen Munday – Mrs. Z of ZeiraZeira – 10 October 1971 to 22 February 2024

We have a lot of fun playing this game... and we get to know many special people along the way.  How sad to have lost one of our own. We bid a sad farewell to Sharlene Munday who was born in Prince Edward Island and passed away on February 22nd of this year in Whitecourt after a valiant fight against cancer leaving her husband Brian, 3 children and 5 siblings.  "Her unwavering passion for her family and for life itself was truly inspiring. Sharlene's strength and courage served as a beacon of peace, comfort, and support to all who knew her." I taught Sharlene how to geocache at a Guiders' skills event. Like everything else she did, she put her heart and soul into her new hobby. She had a smile a mile wide; she was kind and considerate, and had a way of lighting up the room with her laughter. She had the most positive attitude and showed others how to deal with life's tribulations. Her warm kindness and smile made her a cherished friend to many. Our thoughts and prayers go to Brian (Mr. Z) and his familly. Be strong, my friend, and know that you have the love and support of many people around you.

Congratulations

  • Congratulations to... everyone!
  • This is a crazy game we play...  Come celebrate your milestone this year! Or just come and enjoy some virtual camaraderie... we're all pretty good at that!

This is a crazy game we play!
