Geocache Description:

NOTE: THE ABOVE COORDINATES ARE FALSE. YOU WILL DETERMINE THE ACTUAL COORDINATES BY CORRECTLY SOLVING THE QUESTIONS LISTED BELOW.

The intermediate locations ARE NOT in the street.

Cache originally contains some pretty nice stuff, and does contain emergency water.

This cache is dedicated to the Astronauts and the machines they flew during manned Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo Missions as they learned to fly, orbit, navigate, communicate, work, eat, sleep, endure long space flight, rendevous, dock, and finally land, walk, drive, and work on the moon.

To find this cache you must first correctly answer questions for 2 different intermediate stops (one of which reveals the North Coordinates of the Main Cache, and one of which reveals the West Coordinates of the Main Cache). You can go to these intermediate locations in amy order you perfer The answers to these questions are readily available on the Web.

The 2 intermediate locations are in urban settings that will require at most a couple of hundred feet walk.

The final cache is in a 5.56 mm Ammo can graciously provided by Team Coyote1022 from their FREE Ammo Can Cache. The Final Main Cache location will require a 1.6 mile hike with an elevation gain of approx. 750 ft.– most of which is in the last 0.6 mile. BRING WATER. There is some emergency water in the cache...but be sure to bring an ample supply in the summer. The terrain rating is based on light boulder hopping the last few hundred feet to the cache site. I would give the actual trail portion a 3 rating.

THIS IS IMPORTANT, READ THIS: THE COORDINATES YOU FIND AT THE TWO INTERMEDIATE LOCATIONS DO NOT CONTAIN THE DEGREES PORTION OF THE COORDINATES…THE DEGREES PORTION ARE OBVIOUSLY N33D & W111D. THE COORDINATES APPEAR AS THE DIRECTION SYMBOL ALONG WITH THE MINUTES PORTION OF THE COORDINATES, SUCH AS: N12.345 or W56.789.

The North coordinates of the first intermediate location has the form N33.2A.BCD. Solve the following questions to find the NORTH coordinates for the first intermediate location.

A. How many Astronauts did a Gemini space capsule hold? A = # of Astronauts.

B. How many letters in the LAST name of the LAST of the Original Mercury 7 Astronauts to make his FIRST flight in space? B = # of letters in LAST name

C. How many missions did Alan Sheppard fly in space? C = # of Missions.

D. Number of letters in the LAST name of the Commander of the first Mission From the Earth to the Moon? D = # of letters in LAST name.

The West coordinates of the first intermediate location has the form W111 3W.XYZ. Solve the following questions to find the WEST coordinates for the first intermediate location.

X. How many US Astronauts lost their lives in ACTUAL space missions during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs? X = # killed.

Z. How many letters in the LAST name of the first Astronaut to drive the Lunar Rover on the Moon? Z = number of letters in LAST name.

The North coordinates of the second intermediate location has the form N33 2E.FGH. Solve the following questions to find the NORTH coordinates for the second intermediate location.

E. How many letters in the SHORTENED FIRST name of the 4th man to walk on the moon? E = # of letters in SHORTENED FIRST name.

F. How many Astronauts normally flew in the Lunar Module? F = number of Astronauts.

G. Number of letters in the LAST name of the 3rd US Astronaut to fly in space. G = # of letters in LAST name.

H. How many Astronauts flew MORE THAN one Mission from the Earth to the Moon? H = # who flew MORE THAN one mission.

The West coordinates of the second intermediate location has the form W111 3S.TUV. Solve the following questions to find the WEST coordinates for the second intermediate location.

S. On what Gemini flight Mission as in Gemini # did the first docking of two spacecraft first occur? S = # of Gemini Mission.

T. How many Astronauts did the Mercury space capsule hold? T = # of Astronauts.

U. How many Missions did Walter Schirra fly in space? U = number of Missions.
