This series was originally placed for the enjoyment of the SouthWest Area Geocachers (SWAG) and the Texoma Geocaching Assn. (ToGA) when they gathered for a meeting in Lawton in 2011. Twelve caches were in the original run, but the number has grown over the years with additions such as this one.
Common sense says you shouldn't roller skate in the halls of a school, especially a big one like the high school that's within sight of this geocache. But can you remember back in the early 2000s when "heelys" were popular? Those were the shoes with a wheel in the heel that allowed the person wearing them to ride along like they were wearing inline skates. My youngest son had a pair and his school actually banned them from campus for safety reasons.
Nobody ever tried to roller skate in my school. However ... when I was in junior high, a couple of my buddies got the bright idea that they would ride their motorcycles down the school hallway during the lunch hour. Our school was combined with the high school and it was nearly 2 blocks long. They recruited some friends to hold open the doors, donned ski masks and rode up the steps through the north door, through the entire length of the school and out the south doors. The entire episode lasted all of maybe 60 seconds. What they didn't know is that an official from the Oklahoma State Department of Education happened to be at school just then. Nobody got hurt ... except maybe the pride of the principal and superintendent. It all happened so fast that no adult got a good look at them and no student that witnessed the incident ratted them out. There were suspicions, but with no ID proven, they got away with it.
