The Park Hill Meeting House is located in Westmoreland, situated atop the north end of Park Hill Common, where its gilded weathervane sweeps the sky. It is recognized as one of the finest edifices of its kind. “The entire setting of Park Hill village,” says author Eva Speare, “is one of the richest gems of the landscape of New Hampshire.”
The Meeting House was built in 1762 near the North Cemetery (aka Cole Cemetery), 1-1/2 miles from the present site. Completed in 1764, the building was then described as “very plain, without belfry or ornament of any kind, but adequate to the spiritual needs of the small community…” In the summer of 1779, it was dismantled and moved south by ox teams to the bottom of the hill by its present location.
In 1826, the building was moved again 90 feet north to its present location, at the head of the sloping green. Also at this time, the building was extended by 20 feet, and a steeple with a Palladian window and portico were added. The columns were turned on site using a large horse-powered lathe set up at the bottom of the hill. The following year, a bell cast by Paul Revere and Sons of Boston was purchased and installed in the new steeple, where it still hangs.
You are looking for a 5.5 x 8-inch lock-n-lock with camo tape a little bit behind the building. Good for swaping some loot. Should not need to move anything, except maybe some leaves over time. Warning: I was told the neighbors keep an eye on the place and my be nosy.
