Please remember to log your WILL ATTEND prior to the day of the event.
What is Third Wednesday?
Third Wednesday is an informal gathering to talk geocaching and just socialize. It's a great way to get hints about caches that stump you, meet the faces behind your favorite caches (or the diabolical ones) and pointers for hiding your own caches.
Where is Third Wednesday?
It bounces around from month to month, so make sure you check back and get the most up-to-date coordinates. We choose restaurants in and around the Reading/Berks County area.
Who comes to Third Wednesday?
Everyone does. If you're a veteran cacher or this is your first one, it doesn't matter. It is always friendly and laid back. The "crowd" tends to be more adult, but there are usually a few youngsters at each event and they are always welcome, AND WE ALWAYS ENCOURAGE and WELCOME CACHERS WHOM ARE VISITING THE AREA AND ARE FROM OTHER CACHING GROUPS!!!!!
When is Third Wednesday?
It's not the first or second Wednesday, always the Third Wednesday of each month. More specifically, we start at 5:00 PM and usually carry on till 7:00 PM at the earliest. If you can't make it for exactly at 5:00, no problem. You're not considered late unless you arrive after everyone has left. It isn't uncommon for cachers to show up after 7:00 with the majority of cachers coming in around 5:00 to 6:00.
Extra things to keep in mind: The Plum Creek Famers Market and Creamery is a food order line with buzzer for pick-up for both food and ice cream. If you pick up a Travel Bug or trackable coin at one of the events, make sure you log it out so it doesn't show up in the events list. If a trackable sits as being listed in the event for a couple of months, the cache owner is the one that gets the e-mail from the TB owner(s).
The first Third Wednesday was in March of 2005. Thanks to MoHo for the GCJ71Q idea. And thanks to MissJenn for originally organizing the first THIRD Wednesday! Thanks, KurtRoedeger, for keeping it going through year three. Twenty years later the tradition is still going strong.
We still have different hosts at different locations in and around Berks County just like it was in the beginning!!
