Welcome to the Alexander Memorial Gates – Berrigan Showgrounds
These gates have welcomed generations of showgoers, players, and proud locals. Built in 1958 as part of upgrades to meet sporting regulations, they helped mark the Show Society’s centenary in 1991.
This site has been a hub of community life for over a century – a showground since 1908, a football field since 1956, and a cricket ground since 1968. Between 1951 and 1962, the Show Society expanded the grounds, removing a cottage to make way for new facilities. After a flood forced the football club to relocate here in 1956, changerooms, toilets, and afternoon tea sheds were added, and the Alexander Gates were erected to honour this new era.
A place where sport, stories, and history come together – and now home to a little hidden treasure of its own.
NOTE: During home games these gates are closed.
