Geocache Description:

Sculpture in the Wild has expanded and we have new land available for caching! This cache is placed in the new area being populated with art pieces. Please DO NOT CLIMB ON THE ART, but enjoy the sights, sounds and textures of the area. We have named this cache "A New Adventure" to signify the expansion of the park.

Sculptures in the Wild is a place to stretch your legs, take in some culture, and maybe play a bit of disc golf. This cache is an ammo can located in an outdoor art installation with a few disc golf baskets spread about. BUSHWHACKING MAY BE REQUIRED but PLEASE watch where you step. This place is a hidden gem! Bring a picnic!

Depending upon snow cover this may not be available during winter.

TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO TAKE THE LONG AND WINDING PATHS TO VIEW THE AMAZING ART PIECES.

Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild International Sculpture Park celebrates the rich environmental, industrial and cultural heritage of the Blackfoot Valley. Sculptors have been invited to create significant site-specific works of art using the materials - natural and industrial - that are associated with the community's economic and cultural traditions.

Lincoln, Montana, a community nestled in the Blackfoot Valley, has been the center of rich, often times conflicting social, cultural and environmental values. Mining, logging and ranching have been the key economic factors that have sustained the community throughout its history. As the logging and mining industries have subsided over the past 25 years the community finds itself at a crossroads in both economic and cultural development. Reflecting on it's history and looking towards the future, the community has chosen contemporary art practice to act as both a creative and economic catalyst.

Open from Dawn to Dusk    Admission Free    On Site Parking.

The Delaney Sawmill TeePee Burner is a MUST SEE. If you are fortunate to see it at night you will see the glow similar to what one would see in days of yesteryear when lumbermills were commonplace in Lincoln and burned sawdust and woodchips at night. Art is being added all the time so come back often because you may be able to watch it happen in person! Concerts are held most Saturday afternoons during summer, so come and enjoy that special ambiance!

While you are here, check our out other geocaches in our Sculpture in the Wild series: Blackfoot Pathways, GC77TC9, East-West Passage, GC7PXGK ; and Southern Territory, GC7PXGM. We hope to add more caches on the new side so keep your eyes open! The orange cages are disc golf baskets - bring your discs and your friends. Do not be afraid to bushwhack! We would prefer you bushwhack so as not to make a path to the cache (like East-West Passage). Watch for small stacks of stones (called cairns) and don't be afraid to build your own if the muse inspires.
