Signal and Tracker at Horseshoe Lake
Wilson Creek Geocaching Adventure Video
The "Wilson Creek Geo-Adventure" will involve approximately 100 kms of driving.
35 kms is on a paved highway. The other 65 kms is on the Wilson Creek FSR which is described as a good, 2 wheel drive, gravel road, and while that is mostly true the section from Wilson Lake East along Wilson Lake to Wilson Lake West has become really rough and there is going to be some pinstripping. Having said that if you don't want to damage your vehicle you can turn around at East Wilson Lake and then drive up the Wilson Lake Road on the other side of Box Lake.
In order to locate the final cache: "Wilson Creek Geo-Adventure Final" you must visit ten caches. Each cache will have a clue written on the lid as well as in the logbook. Write the clue down.
This Adventure will take you to several pristine mountain lakes and spectacular waterfalls with plenty of opportunities for camping, hiking, and fishing. To get the most enjoyment out of this caching series we strongly recommend bringing your camping gear. Also don't forget your camera, bug spray, and fishing rods. As always, remember to be bear aware.
Horseshoe Lake is a small lake with a small recreation site, just a short distance from Wilson Lake West. We found the place deserted as it so often seems to be.
To find the cache you can enter the trees from right across the road from the Horseshoe Lake sign if there is nobody camping there or you can make your way up to the cache location from near the outhouse trail. There is a trail beyond that the outhouse that has views of the old cabin across the creek, as well as a pretty little waterfall that is worth a visit.
Directions: From the intersection of Wilson Creek FSR and Wilson Lake Rd. (N50 14.456 W117 40.162) take the road north to the Y junction at N50 14.546 117 39.765. Take the left fork to get to Horseshoe Lake, the right fork goes to Wilson Lake West.
As this is a stand-a-lone cache, you are welcome to just log this cache if you don't have time to take in the entire Adventure.
You are looking for a regular lock n lock.
