Signal and Tracker at Summit Lake
Wilson Creek Geocaching Adventure Video
The "Wilson Creek Geo-Adventure" will involve approximately 100 kms of driving.
35 kms is on a paved highway. The other 65 kms is on the Wilson Creek FSR which is described as a good, 2 wheel drive, gravel road, and while that is mostly true the section from Wilson Lake East along Wilson Lake to Wilson Lake West has become really rough and there is going to be some pinstripping. Having said that if you don't want to damage your vehicle you can turn around at East Wilson Lake and then drive up the Wilson Lake Road near Box Lake.
In order to locate the final cache: "Wilson Creek Geo-Adventure Final" you must visit ten caches. Each cache will have a clue written on the lid as well as in the logbook. Write the clue down.
This Adventure will take you to several pristine mountain lakes and spectacular waterfalls with plenty of opportunities for camping, hiking, and fishing. To get the most enjoyment out of this caching series we strongly recommend bringing your camping gear. Also don't forget your camera, bug spray, and fishing rods. As always, remember to be bear aware.
Summit Lake Provincial Park is located 18 km south east of Nakusp or 26 north of New Denver on Highway #6. It is a beautiful park located on a peninsula that juts out into Summit Lake. Summit Lake Provincial Park offers 34 campsites, 17 of which are located on the lake with their own water access.
Summit Lake attracts avid fishers and families seeking a tranquil park setting on a beautiful lake. Some of the attractions include fishing for rainbow and cutthroat trout or swimming in the lake’s clear, refreshing mountain water. If you are lucky you might spot the Mountain Goats that can often be viewed on rocky outcroppings across the lake. In late summer a natural spectacle occurs as thousands of toads emerge from the lake and migrate to the nearby forest to hibernate for the winter.
You will find the little trail that leads to the lake and the cache in the Day Use Area.
