What could be better than a Swamp Rats™ event in the heat of the summer with a chance to go swimming in the Withlacoochee River during/after the event? Then this event is for you!
In the true Swamp Rats™ tradition, you can kayak or bike somewhat close to the event site but at some point you will have to walk the rest of the way. If you hike in, it will be easier to get to some of the new caches that were placed recently. The event will start around 11 am and go to noon or later depending on how much fun everyone is having.
There are 2 active caches that were placed in December 2005 a bit farther north from the event. No guarantee on wetness in getting to any of the caches out there.
Like all our Rats™ events, if everyone can bring a little something to share for our snack time that would be great. Just make sure everything you bring in, comes back out with you (i.e. any garbage). Make sure you bring plenty of water as you're out in the wilderness and you need to stay hydrated. Come prepared with the proper attire, shoes, bug spray and any other provisions you think you'll need as you'll be in the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve - West Tract. Oh, and there coild be a wild turkey sighting or...
Should anyone want to go as a group, you could meet at the parking area around 9 am.
