Geocache Description:

Tisno is a town in Croatia, situated partly on the mainland and partly on the island of Murter, separated by a narrow channel. This channel, only 38 meters wide, is spanned by a drawbridge that connects the two parts of the town. The name "Tisno" comes from the Croatian word "tisno," meaning strait, which accurately describes its location.

Here's a more detailed look at Tisno:

Unique Geography:

Tisno's location on both the mainland and an island makes it unique. The drawbridge, a notable landmark, is raised several times a day during the summer to allow boat traffic to pass through.

Historical Significance:

The town dates back to at least 1567 and has a rich history reflected in its stone houses, narrow streets, and squares.

Tourist Destination:

Tisno is a popular tourist destination, offering a blend of natural beauty, cultural attractions, and recreational activities.

Attractions:

Visitors can enjoy beaches, diving, walking trails, and explore the nearby National Parks of Kornati and Krka.

Island Connection:

The drawbridge, while essential for transportation, also highlights Tisno's connection to the island of Murter, a popular destination in its own right.
