A Micro-sized hide tucked at the heart of what’s now officially part of College Station, but still known locally as Wellborn.
Updated Local History
Wellborn began in 1867 as a railroad construction camp on the Houston & Texas Central Railroad. It was once a shipping point with stores, a post office, and a cotton gin. Its population peaked around 1910 at about 400 residents before gradually declining to around 100 by the mid-20th century.
Although Wellborn is no longer an independent town, due to it being annexed by the City of College Station on April 14, 2011, and designated the Wellborn District. Today, it lies within the city limits, part of the greater South College Station area.
While Snappy Mart (formerly a locally owned gas station named Max Express) isn’t a historic landmark, it sits at the hub of this community. With nearly all the locals in and out of not only the doors of the convenience store, but also the food places nearby.
About the Cache
This hide is a micro cache, concealed just around back of the building, with plenty of parking for ease stealthyness. Access is safe and straightforward, and easy to find.
