About midway between Coachford and Macroom, the ruined Castle of Carrigadrohid stands on a steep rock in the centre of the river Lee. A narrow bridge connects the ruin with either bank. Carrigadrohid Castle was built during the 15th century by the MacCarthys of Muskerry and later extended, but was besieged in 1650 and fell into ruin.
The cache is hidden in the well maintained park at the base of a group of several trees in a little hole.
