In the late 18th century, Francis Asbury and other pioneers of American Methodism traveled throughout this area bringing the message of their faith to the people. A local Methodist Society was organized at that time. In 1804 a church was built along Chapel Branch, but the growth of Seaford and the expanding size of the congregation created the purchase of a new lot on Front Street. The present site of this church was purchased in 1889 and a new church was completed here. In 1933-34, a major expansion and remodeling project was undertaken and in 1968 the congregation approved the building of a new sanctuary. The present sanctuary was built and first occupied in 1972. The sanctuary was formally dedicated in 1989. This church property currently contains the sanctuary, Sunday School classrooms, a pre-school, a library room, meeting rooms, a thrift shop, and church offices.
PLEASE DO NOT GEOCACHE HERE ON SUNDAY MORNINGS. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.
