Geocache Description:

This geocache lies in Cockington, nestled between three valleys - Manscombe, Scadson and a small combe called Camel Park which runs down Bewhay lane.

Bewhay lane, now a green lane, was one of the former main route to and from Cockington Village. It was said to have run east-west for 1.3km from Cockington Lane to the former Dartmouth road, now Nutbush lane.

Adjacent to Bewhay Lane lie two apple orchards. To the rear of Cockington court is a large established orchard, used for cider making throughout Cockington court's long history. To the east of this along Bewhay lane lies a smaller more recently planted memorial orchard.

In the memorial Orchard, each burial is marked by an apple tree.

Apples from all the surrounding orchards are used at the annual Cockington Apple Fayre.

Apple Fayre Day was started at Cockington back in 1993 and to the rear of Cockington Court there are still wooden cider presses and a large round granite stone once used for crushing apples using horsepower by the entrance to the court.

More importantly, Sally our dog absolutely loves the apple orchards. Full of bird song in spring, apples to chase in summer and leaves in autumn...it's her favorite place.

This cache, is Sally's shortcut to her favorite place.
