This is the final cache in my series of geocaches highlighting fields of scientific study. Zoology is the study of animals; the term is derived from the ancient Greek words for animal and study.
Zoology currently has identified 1.5 million species and could include as many as 8 million species making it one of the main branches of biology.
The world of animals includes vertebrates and invertebrates. Vertebrates include mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and amphibians. Invertebrates include crustaceans, mollusks, worms, spiders and bugs.
The cache is located within the Jerusalem Mills area of the Gunpowder State Park. The most direct route is from a parking area on Bel Air Road. Additional parking is available on Jerusalem Mill Road which entails a more significant hike but features more scenery and several geocaches.
The posted address for parking is 12801 Belair Road, Kingsville, MD. Coordinates are below.
Carefully cross the bridge on Belair Road over the Little Gunpowder River to the Little Gunpowder Trailhead (White Trail). The unmarked trailhead for the Hi Way Trail is a short distance away.
The cache is a few yards off of the Hi Way Trail.
