I've had two "Red Rocks" hides in this area. One of them lasted for years and had 82 finders, and the second one was destroyed by trail work in just over a year. I really like this area, though, with the view of the reservoir and all the turkey vultures who hang out back here. (I mean they're not very cute, but you have to admit they're impressive.)
The latest version of this cache is a simple hide just a step or two off the Guadalupe Trail. There's poison oak in the general area, but none next to the cache. A sharp-eyed cacher will spot this cache as they walk up.
The nearest access is over the dam, but you can get here with just a few miles' hike from several other entrances. (Note that at the time this cache was placed, there was no rope at the dam, so you have to scale it yourself.)
Park hours are 8:00am to sunset. Trail hours are sunrise to sunset. Happy hunting!
