#15 - The Speeches

The trouble with wedding speeches is that, although it’s a reasonably good bet that the groom’s speech will be ok – because there will be domestic violence if it isn’t - there will also be various others who get to chip in, none of whom have any experience in public speaking or any qualifications other than being related to (or, in the case of the best man, just being good mates with) one of the newly-weds. If you’re lucky, they will be reasonably short, thank all the people who need to be thanked, and not contain details of any amusing youthful escapades that might actually get the bride or groom arrested.

The bride’s father may have sort of threatened to have Optimist on the run shot, but we think he was joking. We hope.
