Join us at the Glen Allen Branch of the Henrico County Library to try to solve some caching puzzles. The group has been meeting for the better part of two years, so we usually tackle some pretty difficult puzzles, but if you are new to caching let me know (you can post a note here or message me through the geocaching app), and I will set up a beginners night at one of our meetings and we'll review basic puzzle solving techniques. We try to meet on Wednesdays, but it turns out that it is very difficult to get the larger room on any Wednesday, so the event moves around. Watch carefully each month for the day and date!
I'll do a presentation if I have time (but my summer is RIDICULOUSLY busy!), so best to bring your most hair-tearing-cannot-solve-this-thing puzzles and we'll take a group whack at them. Bring your laptop if possible; some puzzles don't solve very well on phones or tablets. If you have an idea for a puzzle type I should cover in future (or one we already covered but should review), or if you would like to take a turn at the podium, as fishercacher did for us recently with great success, please let me know! All ideas welcome! We will be in the large room, which means we have to set up tables and chairs and put them away at the end. You may also want to consider bringing an extension cord if your laptop battery won't hold out--most of the plugs are around the perimeter of the room.
I know that we in CVGA are very casual about posting "will attend" notes for events; however, I do provide home-baked goodies for everyone present, so please do post your intention to attend so that I know how much to bring!
Note: Please remember that we have a long-standing agreement not to rush out after the meeting and try to find any caches for which we solved puzzles during the meeting. We leave it at least until morning so that everyone who worked on the puzzle gets a fair shot--especially if this is a new puzzle created with this event and FTF is at stake! If you did not contribute anything at all to the solution, please do not go out and grab FTF.
Prior to the event, I will be having dinner at Franco's Italian Restaurant at 9010 Staples Mill Rd, Henrico, VA 23228. I'll be there at 4:45. You are free to join me if you can! (I am going a few minutes earlier than usual and I will order my dinner right away so that I can get my check and get out by 6:00 without the mad rush at the end that I've had the last few months.) The dinner is not part of the event, and you are welcome to attend either or both. If you are coming to dinner, do please let me know, either in your "will attend" note or via message, as the restaurant has a small staff. There is plenty of room for us, but we need to let them know a big group is coming. Thanks!
