Geocache Description:

At the posted coordinates, you will find a call box repurposed to honor Dr. Vera Rubin. Dr. Rubin was an astronomer who spent most of her life in Washington DC, for a long time living nearby in the Chevy Chase neighborhood. She spent most of her scientific career at Carnegie Science, a research institute which is across the street from this artwork.

Dr. Rubin is most famous for her detailed observations of the rotation of spiral galaxies, which uncovered the existence of dark matter. Dark matter, which is matter that does not interact with light but affects normal matter through gravity, is still not well-understood, but it is now thought to make up 85% of the matter in the Universe. Dr. Rubin is widely regarded as one of the most pre-eminent scientists of her era as well as a steadfast advocate for women in science. She received many honors, including being the namesake of the recently (mid-2025) completed Vera Rubin Observatory in Chile. This telescope will continue her research into dark matter as well as studying asteroids, supernovae, and the architecture of the Milky Way by taking snapshots of the entire sky every few nights using the largest camera ever constructed (3.2 gigapixels), which are unprecedented levels of frequency and detail.

Examine the artwork and the plaque to learn about Dr. Rubin's life and obtain the final coordinates of the cache container. The final is less than 2 blocks away from the call box.

The final is located at N 38 57.EFA W 77 03.ACF

A: Dr. Rubin was born in 192A

B: Dr. Rubin confirmed the existence of dark matter in the 19B0s

CD: Carnegie Science was established in 19CD

E: Number of shiny circular mosaic pieces (celestial orbs perhaps) on the artwork

F = B - D

Checksum: A + B + C + D + E = 23

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
