[PL]Młyny Rothera to dawne młyny zbożowe położone w centralnej części Wyspy Młyńskiej, tuż nad Brdą (na północy) i Kanałem Zbożowym (na zachodzie). Obecnie w budynku znajdują się różnego rodzaju wystawy, sale konferencyjne, organizowane są imprezy kulturalne, spotkania, itp.
Nazwa młynów pochodzi od Christiana Von Rothera, ministra stanu w rządzie państwa pruskiego. Rother odpowiedzialny był za państwową spółkę o nazwie Królewski Handel Morski, a jego celem było wybudowanie największych młynów w Bydgoszczy. W 1842 roku Rother zdecydował o wykupieniu terenu należącego do braci Schickler (właścicieli m.in. Młynów Herkulesa) przez Królewski Handel Morski. To właśnie ta spółka była inicjatorem budowy na Wyspie Młyńskiej dużego młyna państwowego. Głównym inżynierem budowy młynów był Friedrich Gotthilf Wulff. Niestety nazwisko architekta tej budowli nie jest znane.
Budowę młynów rozpoczęto w 1845 roku, a ukończono ją w 1849 roku. Jednak pierwsza mąka "wyjechała" z młynów dopiero 3 lata później w 1852 roku. Kiedy uruchomiono ten młyn, był on drugim największym tego typu obiektem w Prusach. Jednocześnie był on najnowocześniejszym młynem w całej Europie, ponieważ wykorzystano w nim najnowsze ówczesne technologie, które podpatrzono w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Wielkiej Brytanii.
Po zakończeniu budowy młyna powstał tutaj także masywny budynek produkcyjny z magazynem zbożowym, spichlerz mączny, kotłownia z kominem, maszynownia, przepompownia (dom turbinowy), a także przepławki dla ryb. Budynki zostały osadzone na 813 drewnianych palach. Młyny Rothera były największymi obiektami tego typu w Bydgoszczy, a ciekawostką jest fakt, że do obsługi obiektu wystarczało tylko 11 pracowników. W młynach produkcja mąki odbywała się do końca II wojny światowej, ponieważ po wojnie sowieci wywieźli maszyny i urządzenia gdzieś w głąb Związku Radzieckiego i w ten oto sposób Młyny Rothera przestały spełniać swoją pierwotną funkcję.

[EN]Rother's Mills are former grain mills located in the central part of Mill Island, just above the Brda River (in the north) and the Grain Canal (in the west). Currently, the building houses various exhibitions, conference rooms, cultural events, meetings, etc.
The mills are named after Christian Von Rother, a minister of state in the Prussian government. Rother was responsible for a state-owned company called the Royal Maritime Trade, and his goal was to build the largest mills in Bydgoszcz. In 1842, Rother decided to purchase land belonging to the Schickler brothers (owners of Herkules Mills, among other things) for the Royal Maritime Trade. It was this company that initiated the construction of a large state-owned mill on Mill Island. Friedrich Gotthilf Wulff was the chief engineer for the mills. Unfortunately, the name of the architect is unknown.
The construction of the mills began in 1845 and was completed in 1849. However, the first flour 'left' the mills only 3 years later in 1852. When this mill was launched, it was the second largest facility of its type in Prussia. At the same time, it was the most modern mill in the whole of Europe, because it used the latest technologies of the time, which had been observed in the United States and Great Britain.
After the construction of the mill was completed, a massive production building with a grain warehouse, a flour granary, a boiler room, an engine room with a chimney, a pumping station (turbine house), and fish ladders were also built here. The buildings were set on 813 wooden piles. Rother's mills were the largest facilities of this type in Bydgoszcz, and an interesting fact is that only 11 workers were enough to operate the facility. Flour production took place in the mills until the end of World War II, because after the war the Soviets took the machines and equipment somewhere deep into the Soviet Union and thus the Rother's Mills ceased to fulfill their original function.
