Geocache Description:

This cache is a letterbox hybrid and it is not at the posted coordinates!  There are letterbox clues below that will lead you to the cache, but if you prefer, you may use the final coordinates to find it.  These are also posted below on the cache page.

Sunrise to sunset caching only!

I already had several caches hidden in this park and was encouraged to hide more by park workers who were putting in the new trail around the park.  Since I like a nice variety of cache types, I decided to hide a new mystery cache and a letterbox hybrid cache back in the woods.  This cache will take you down to the southern end of the park, close to Hoskins Creek.  It's kind of a long hike, but fairly easy, with just some minor elevation changes.  Finding the cache in the woods may be a little tougher.

The cache is a medium size camo'ed lock & lock container hidden somewhere down by the creek.  If you are a letterboxer with a stamp book, bring it along and get a fun stamp.
Please note that the stamp is not a trade item and needs to remain in the cache.

Letterbox Clues

Begin your hunt at the posted coordinates, on the trail near the restroom building with the bell on top.  I'm not sure what the bell's purpose is, but that's where you need to be.  Head south for about 150 feet until you come to a split in the trail.  Take the path to the right, as it twists and turns through the woods, mostly in a southerly direction.  You will need to go roughly two-tenths of a mile until you come to another split in the trail.

Here you will see a large rock sitting on the trail at the split, and there will also be a bench on the edge of the trail.  Be sure to sit down and take a rest if the hike has been too much for you so far.  When you're ready to proceed, head to the southwest and take the trail that leads down the hill.  You will need to go about 300 feet and look for the large mossy stump, about eight feet off the trail on the left side.  At this point you should be only 50 to 60 feet from the creek.  Go take a look at the water if you like, but remember to come back to the stump when you're done.

From the stump, go toward the creek about 20 feet and then turn to the left where there should be an easy way to enter the woods.  You will probably have to go down into two small ditches and back up the other sides until you see a large pile of downed trees and branches off to your left.  Watch for thorns as you walk along the side of the pile of trees and branches.  You will probably have to go in about 70 feet from the trail until you're at the end of the pile of downed trees.

From there, glance to your left and you should see a small mossy decaying stump nearby.  Walk over to the stump and you should find the letterbox container without a problem.

Good Luck!
