It's back! Let's all hang out at the library, and watch this year's GIFF videos. You'll even get a shiny new souvenir for coming! There were some great ones in previous years. Come hang out for a movie party. Snacks will be provided and you are welcome to bring others to share.
The history of the Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF) began in 2013 as a small event at the Geocaching Block Party in Seattle. After two years of in-park screenings, a 2015 rainstorm led to the creation of the international format, where geocachers host their own film events worldwide. This shift allows the global community to celebrate geocaching creativity, with submissions and events continuing annually and even features a special online "Best of: GIFF"
Since it has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon. It features short films made by geocachers about the game and the community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, GIFF took a brief "intermission." Instead of a new competition, a "Best of: GIFF" compilation of films from previous years was shared online for geocachers to watch from home. In 2023, nearly 15,000 geocachers attended over 500 events across 46 countries. The 2025 GIFF is scheduled to coincide with Geocaching's 25th anniversary, with the theme "TFTC—Thanks For The Community!".
What are the details?
This event is ground level in the EVENT HALL of PPLD Monument Library. The event will start at 3:30pm. The movies will play from 3:30 – 5:30 pm (or later depending on submissions). Then we'll see which movies everyone thinks were the best, clean up, and be cleared out by 5:45.
