Take a stroll along the trail at the Mattapoisett Land Trust's Sherman Preserve. From their property poster:
Visitors can wander the woods of the Sherman Preserve, looking for wild plants and the woodland wildlife that call the forest home. The trail crosses low lying stone walls, a reminder of the human influence on this landscape. At the parking area, notice the stately white oak, the nonnative vinca and dame's rocket near the old stone foundation which all provide clues to the former homestead that once stood here. Native staghorn sumac grows along the stone wall and in the foundation, can you identify other native plants?
This preserve is for all to enjoy!
Some minor bushwhacking is required. Also, be aware of poison ivy, thorns, and ticks. Cache is fairly snow safe (unless we are above a foot or so). While the hide itself is roomy, the cache container itself only has room for the log. Bring you own pen!
NOTE: The cache is not in the stone wall, please do not disturb them.
** CONGRATS to b&b-j for FTF! Thanks for the favorite point! **
