Are You Game to Play..."Postcards" for a CITO? Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

GameForTravel: An especially remarkable and rememorable event!

"The time has come to say 'Goodbye'..." to the collection of events I hosted in September 2025. The homeowners have returned and my dog sitting duties are now over. And yes, I'm finally "on the road again/1"

Thanks to everyone who attended these events - always fun and full of camaraderie, geocaching stories, milestone crossing, souvenirs (physical and virtual)... and SPONGES!

Geocache Description:

Thursday, October 2, 2025 -- noon to 1400

Wells Hill Park recently changed hands and now incorporates the Joy Gleghorn Nature Preseve. The park was closed this spring for the construction of a new restroom facility and parking for handicap permits. It was reopened very recently.* Let us gather at the picnic table in the pavillion at noon and enjoy our bagged lunch (HINT: bring your own!** There are several restaurants in Fayetteville and Park City).

We will then venture farther into the park to practice our CITO skills -- trash bags and water will be provided. You might want to bring your own gloves and proper foot wear (there are a couple of creek crossings, and one usually has some water in it, but can be crosssed without getting wet - if it hasn't rained recently). Some times the trail IS the creek bed, consisting of large, loss rocks.

Since this event is within the specified period for geocachers to observe World Postcard Day (officially on October 1), you will receive a special souvenir for the first event you attend between September 28 and October 4 -- this might be the event for you to do so! Some unused post cards will (hopefully) be provided. Some basic materials will be provided if you'd like to create one of your own. If you want to mail one, bring your own stamp. Those that are not mailed will be collected and delivered to Clearview Cancer Institute to cheer up clients that might need a smile.

If you know of a person or agency that might like to receive a postcard or two or several, please let me know and we can add them to the list.

It is your choice of how to spend time while participating in this event between CITO and/or create/write postcards and/or other activities to do in the park.***

_______

* As mentioned above, the park was closed this spring and a few geocaches that are in the park had been Temporarily Disabled for safety reasons. Since the park has been reopened, those caches have been enabled once again.

** Don't forget the first HINT: bring your own lunch.

*** There might be new activities to do in the park that day.
