This military post was home to the 6th Cavalry from 1919 to 1942. Horses frequently trained on the parade grounds inside Barnhardt Circle and at one time over 100 stables were in use to house them all! Today, only part of 2 stables remain.
This small metal container is outside the locked covered area in an old loading dock area at Stable 41. Why there was an iron edge around part of it remains a mystery... Placed with permission of city recreation department director and city historian.
Daylight-only find. Parking on street or at nearby gym.
