Izhodišče poti je parkirišče pri Štirni, ki se nahaja nad Vrhniko, v neposredni bližini ceste proti Ulovki in Planini nad Vrhniko. Od tam se usmerimo po označeni pešpoti v smeri Blatnega dola, naravne gozdne doline, ki slovi po svoji neokrnjeni tišini in bujnem gozdu.
Pot sprva vodi po gozdni poti, ki se rahlo spušča skozi bukov in smrekov gozd. Podlaga je mehka, mestoma kamnita ali rahlo blatna – še posebej po dežju. Po približno 20 minutah hoje dosežemo območje Blatnega dola, kjer se gozd še bolj zgosti, in nas pot večinoma vodi po kolovozih in ozkih stezah.
Sprehod skozi Blatni dol je prijetno doživetje za vse ljubitelje narave. Ob poti lahko opazujemo bogato podrast, praprot, gozdne cvetlice in slišimo petje ptic. Del poti poteka v senci, kar je posebej dobrodošlo v toplejših mesecih.
Ko se dolina začne rahlo širiti, nas pot pripelje do prvih oznak za Stari Maln. Sledi zadnji del poti, ki se spušča po nekoliko bolj kamniti stezi. Kmalu zaslišimo šumenje potoka Bela, kar pomeni, da smo že blizu cilja.
Po približno 45 minutah do 1 ure hoje (odvisno od tempa in razmer) prispemo do Starega Malna – priljubljene izletniške točke s kočo, rekreacijskim prostorom in izvirom Lintvern v bližini. Tukaj se lahko odpočijemo, okrepčamo in uživamo ob potoku ter lepem naravnem okolju.

Description of the route: From the parking lot at Štirna to Stari Malno via Blatni dol
The starting point of the route is the parking lot at Štirna, located above Vrhnika, in the immediate vicinity of the road to Ulovka and Planina nad Vrhnika. From there, we head along the marked footpath in the direction of Blatni dol, a natural forest valley famous for its pristine silence and lush forest.
The route initially leads along a forest path that gently descends through a beech and spruce forest. The surface is soft, rocky in places or slightly muddy – especially after rain. After about 20 minutes of walking, we reach the Blatni dol area, where the forest thickens even more, and the route mostly leads us along cart tracks and narrow paths.
A walk through Blatni dol is a pleasant experience for all nature lovers. Along the way, we can observe rich undergrowth, ferns, forest flowers and hear birds singing. Part of the route is in the shade, which is especially welcome in the warmer months.
As the valley begins to widen slightly, the path leads us to the first signs for Stari Maln. The last part of the path descends along a slightly stonier path. Soon we hear the murmur of the Bela stream, which means we are close to our destination.
After about 45 minutes to 1 hour of walking (depending on pace and conditions), we reach Stari Maln – a popular excursion spot with a hut, a recreation area and the Lintvern spring nearby. Here we can rest, refresh ourselves and enjoy the stream and the beautiful natural environment.
