Geocache Description:

Please join us for a brief Meet and Greet overlooking the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

When:  Sunday, December 28, 2025
            11:00 – 11:30

There will be a drawing for two Geocaching Colorado (GCCO) geocoins. Trade and discover TBs and pathtags.

Both my travel guidebook and Bill Bryson (one of my favorite authors), in In a Sunburned Country, felt the poignant need to reassure us that there are anti-venoms for all the poisonous snakes in Australia.

Australia:

Most venomous snake in the world – Inland Taipan (reclusive snake, unlikely to encounter)

Second most venomous snake in the world - Eastern Brown Snake (lives in populated areas and is responsible for most snake bite fatalities)

Most dangerous spider in the world – Funnel Web Spider (anti-venom available; if untreated, death possible within 15 minutes; found primarily on the east coast of Australia)

Most poisonous marine creature in the world and worldwide overall most venomous creature  – Box Jellyfish

Most dangerous bird in the world – Southern Cassowary (razor-sharp claws, powerful kicks, runs up to 50 kph or 31 mph)

Also, Saltwater Crocs, Blue-Ringed Octopus (no antidote), sharks, dangerous rip currents, and at least 5 of the top 10 deadliest snakes in the world.

We are visiting the Land Down Under for the first time and look forward to meeting fellow geocachers who are willing to brave the outdoors and join us.

Greetings from Colorado US where we have moose, bears, mountain lions, rattle snakes and black widow spiders.  All tame in comparison.
