Geocache Description:

North of US 2 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Check out the neat park on an island just past the gate. When we placed the cache there were many ice shanties on the lake but no snow on the ground! 23 degrees! Mostly sunny! No bugs!!

To answer a few questions on this hide.... This at one time was a nice little park with stone built BBQs and wooden tables and may have been a camping ground. We think it may have been active beginning in the 1930s and last used sometime in the late 50s to early 60s. Most of these roadside parks / campgrounds were self funded with a drop box and sometimes a care taker. There may had been a community building and most likely several out houses. It drifted out of style and became a memorial park on the island with a boat launch. It is possible that someday it could be restored to it's former glory but it would need to be under State or City control. With little funding that may be unlikely.

Cache is a quart and a half plastic jar that is camouflaged. Please recover better than you found it! Keep it FUN!
*** Here are the starting contents..... STP key ring, Michigan lottery pen, Blue crystal dolphin, One marble, Pack of small suction cups, Teletubes baby - yellow on a clip, 97.7 Wolf sticker, Supra tag, Purple caribiner from the Invasion of the Flatlanders cache in Northern Wisconsin. ***
